Truck Accident Advice

If you have recently been injured in a collision, you may be seeking out truck accident advice. Our Tampa truck accident lawyers are here to answer your questions. Here are some basics you should know before calling our office.

Truck Accident Advice | Commercial Vehicles

As an experienced Tampa Personal Injury I am often asked about commercial vehicles.  Commercial vehicles are required to be insured under policies that carry $750,000 in coverage for bodily injuries, and that’s because all motor vehicles are considered dangerous instrumentalities. Commercial vehicles that weigh more are prone to causing greater injuries when a commercial driver doesn’t exercise reasonable care.

Truck Accident Advice | Immediate Medical Care

As an experienced Tampa Personal Injury Attorney I am often asked if one can sue for damages if they didn’t receive medical care immediately following their incident. A claimant can pursue a cause of action, either informal as a claim or in litigation, even if you don’t seek medical attention right away.  Most people try to see if they’re going to recover from their injuries without seeking medical attention. I think insurance adjusters, defendants, and especially juries understand that reasonable people don’t always seek medical attention right away.

Truck Accident Advice | Timeframe for Filing a Case

As an experienced Tampa Personal Injury Attorney I am often asked how long one has to file a claim for a personal injury case.  For most personal injury claims, you have four years from the date of the event within which to pursue a claim. There are exceptions to that. For example, if you are injured in a motor vehicle accident or a collision and the adverse driver has no coverage but you have underinsured or uninsured motorist coverage, you have five years to bring that claim against your insurance company because that’s a contractual claim. Medical malpractice claims, which are also considered personal injury claims, there’s a two-year statute of limitations from the time that you knew or reasonably should have known. The same in product liability; claims are four years.
